Coexpression of Gfp-MinD and MinE-Gfp in the same cell. Strains SJ307/pFX7/pAS73 [minCDE+/Plac-minD minE∷gfp/Para -minD] (a), SJ307/pDB175/pSLR22 [minCDE+/Plac-minD minE/Para -gfp∷minD] (b), and SJ307/pFX7/pSLR22 [minCDE+/Plac-minD minE∷gfp/Para -gfp∷minD] (c) were grown in Medium B in the presence of 10 μM IPTG and 0.0005% arabinose for 5 h. Generation times were 72, 62, and 61 min, and cells were harvested at OD600 0.86, 1.06, and 1.0 for panels a, b, and c, respectively. Unfixed cells were examined by using identical exposure times (0.4 s) for capture of the fluorescent images.
