Note that Inline graphic = O5-C5-C6-O6 and Inline graphic = O5′-C5′-C6′-O6′, with O6′ = O1 for a (1→6)-linkage (I, G); χn = Cn−1-Cn-On-HOn (n = 2,3,4,6; nonreducing residue) and χn′ = Cn−1′-Cn′-On′-HOn′ (n = 1,2,3,4,6; reducing residue). The timescales represent the average time spent in the different dihedral-angle wells centered at staggered conformations (intervals [−120°; 0°], [0°; 120°], and [120°; −120°]). Changes of well occurring for <5 ps (allowed excursion time) are not counted as transitions. The codes used for the disaccharides refer to Fig. 1.
