The effect of allicin on gliding motility. P. berghei sporozoites were preincubated in buffer alone, 1 μM cytochalasin D (CD), or 50 μM allicin for 10 min and then added to wells for 1 h at 37°C, after which gliding motility was quantified. The sporozoites pretreated with allicin were either kept in 50 μM allicin during the motility assay (allicin) or diluted 12-fold so that the final concentration of allicin was 4.2 μM (allicin dil).
