The definitions used in this context were susceptible (MIC ≤ 2.0 mg/liter), intermediate (>2.0 to 256 mg/liter), and resistant (MIC > 256 mg/liter). The three isolates resistant to fusidic acid belonged to different ribotypes (see text).
