Step response to σ2. We simulated the effect of positive feedback on systems σ2–σ4. We did this for both the original nonlinear and the linearized system. Though all four systems had approximately the same response, the response shown here for σ2 produces the largest second peak. Parameters are α = 0.6,β = 1,k = 1 and l = 1.
