Purified endocytic vesicles exhibit microtubule-based, ATP-dependent motility (see movie Figure 6.mov). Five video frames are shown at ∼10-s intervals, as indicated in the upper left of each panel. Two vesicles (ves 1 and ves 2) can be seen translocating upon microtubules for distances of 5 μm or more. Arrows and arrowheads mark the initial positions of the vesicles.
