Transcriptional activation by Gal4. Under non-inducing conditions, Gal4 activity is blocked by the interaction of Gal80 with the Gal4-activation domain. Gal4 levels are regulated by the F-box protein Grr1. On galactose induction, Gal80 is removed from the Gal4-activation domain, which is then able to recruit the transcriptional machinery.
