Operating room is an instance of extreme light intensity variation (being an eye specialist yet working in a non-ergo-ophthalmologically safe situation); it is physically demanding to sit for hours at the operating microscope; although ophthalmology is seemingly not a stressful specialty (probably due to its preoperative facet), intra- and postoperatively it has myriads, including vitreous loss, expulsive choroidal hemorrhage, endophthalmitis, diffuse lamellar keratitis, lost muscle, premature drainage, scleral perforation, shallow anterior chamber, optic nerve injury or globe perforation while performing retrobulbar injection, intraocular lens and nucleus drop, anterior segment ischemia, and retinal detachment.
