The combined model with τR rate-limiting can account for the Empirical Response Suite I. With τR rate-limiting and R* activation the dominant of the two front-end gains, using the same parameters as in Figure 14, the combined (R*-activation-RecRK) model provides a good account of the sub-saturated flash responses ( A ), reproduces the signature qualitative features of the step responses ( B ), Tsat versus ln(I) ( C ), and generates a relatively large range of Weber's law LA ( D ; cutoff Ib = 5000 R* s−1).
