Minimum evolution tree depicting the relationship among species in Agave sensu lato and other genera in the Agavaceae based on trnL+trnLtrnF. The tree was rooted using Acorus gramineus and calibrated using an estimated age of 132 million years for the crown age. Numbers at the nodes are bootstrap values generating from running 1,000 replicates of the tree. The tree was linearized with respect to time, and the time scale of evolution within this group of monocotyledons is indicated by a scale bar represented in Mya.
