A 0.2 μl aliquot of crude saliva (lanes 1, 2 and 3) and purified apyrase (lane 4) were resolved in native PAGE, using a Tris/glycine/acetate system in a 3–15% gradient gel. In-gel activity (arrow) was detected by the formation of calcium phosphate precipitate after incubation, in the presence of ATP (lanes 1 and 4) and ADP (lane 2), but not AMP (lane 3).
