Expression of hrcQ::gus in trh mutant NRH867. X. oryzae pv. oryzae strains were incubated in the hrp-inducing medium XOM2 for 15 h, and GUS activity per 1 × 108 CFU of bacteria was measured. Strain 74HrcQ::GUS contains a hrcQ::gus fusion gene in the genome, and NRH867, a derivative of 74HrcQ::GUS, has a transposon inserted in trh. Plasmid pHMTrh harbors a trh gene.
