Infectivity to mice. BALB/c mice were inoculated with lesion amastigotes of wild-type L. mexicana, W1236 ΔGPI8, and W1237 ΔGPI8[pXG-GPI8], and the subsequent lesion sizes were monitored over 22 wk.
