Wild-type (A, C, and E; Khc20/Khc+ or Khc+/Khc+) and null (B, D, and F; Khc20/Khc20) anterior scutellar macrochaetae (∼340 μm long) were serial sectioned completely. Pairs of sections from equivalent positions along the lengths of the bristles are shown. (A and B) Tip; (C and D) middle; (E and F) base.
