a

The complete broods of 6 unc-46(e177) mdf-1(gk2) and 10 emb-30(tn377ts); unc-46(e177) mdf-1(gk2) homozygotes were analyzed at 16°C. These parental animals were the F1 progeny of +/eT1III; unc-46(e177) mdf-1(gk2)/eT1V and emb-30(tn377ts)/eT1III; unc-46(e177) mdf-1(gk2)/eT1V heterozygotes, respectively.

b

Phenotypes were scored as described (Kitagawa and Rose, 1999).

c

Brood size refers to the total number of eggs produced by a single adult hermaphrodite.
