Deletion of OYE2 causes sensitivity to acrolein. Sensitivity was determined by spotting strains on YEPD plates containing various concentrations of acrolein, H₂O₂, or crotonaldehyde. Cultures of wild-type (wt), oye2, oye3, and oye2 oye3 cells were grown to stationary phase and the A₆₀₀ was adjusted to 1, 0.5, 0.1, 0.05, or 0.01 before the cells were spotted onto plates. Growth was monitored after 3 days of incubation at 30°C. Results are shown for plates containing no oxidant (YEPD), 3 mM acrolein, 4 mM H₂O₂, and 2 mM crotonaldehyde.
