Conidia were allowed to germinate on hydrophobic plastic cover slips and form appressoria. Samples were removed at intervals and stained for the presence of glycogen, as described in Methods. The value recorded is the mean ±sd from observing a sample of 300 terminating conidia each in three independent replications of the experiments.
