a

Cleared seeds at the cotyledon stage of normal development were examined with Nomarski optics. Numbers represent averages followed by range observed.

b

Wild-type seeds have ∼150 to 300 endosperm nuclei at the heart stage of development and endosperm nucleoli that average 4 μm in diameter (Wu, 1999). Normal embryo cell diameter is 8 μm. Embryo cell number includes the suspensor.
