(+), growth with a colony size >3 mm; (–), no growth at all or formation of tiny translucent colonies <0.5 mm in diameter; (+/–), intermediate growth with a colony size between 1 and 2 mm. Glutamate (0.25 mM) was added to the minimal medium to allow growth of ccpA mutants (Faires et al., 1999).
