Figure 3

ASJ ectopic neurite defects in sax-1, tax-4, unc-43, and sax-2 single and double mutants. (A) sax-1 and tax-4. (B) unc-43 and tax-4. (C) sax-1 and unc-43. (D) sax-1 and sax-2. Strains grown at 20°C are shown on the left of each panel, strains grown at 25°C are shown on the right. Error bars indicate the SE of proportion; n = 110–362 animals scored for each data point. ASJ morphology was scored with the use of DiI filling of animals lacking a gfp transgene; qualitatively similar results were obtained with tax-2Δ::gfp. Single asterisks indicate double mutants that were significantly more defective than either single mutant at that temperature (p < 0.001, χ2 test). Double asterisks indicate double mutants that were significantly suppressed compared with the more severe single mutant at that temperature (p < 0.001, χ2 test). tax-4 mutant defects were less severe than those reported previously (Peckol et al., 1999) because only lateral axon defects were included in this analysis (see MATERIALS AND METHODS).
