(A) Flies of the indicated genotypes were either untreated (−) or subjected to heat shock (+) to active HS-GAL4-driven UAS-Hep.CA expression, and infected with a mixture of M. luteus and E. coli(+). (B) Wild-type Oregon R flies were infected overnight and RNA was prepared. HS-GAL4 and UAS-Dredd transgenes were crossed into dTAK1² and dTAK¹⁷⁹ mutant backgrounds. Flies of the indicated genotypes were either untreated (−) or heat shocked (+) and analyzed by Northern blot (see Materials and methods).
