Lateral root number per unit of root length was measured in four independent experiments on seedlings grown on square vertical agar plates 12 days after germination (just before the roots reached the bottom of the plate). The growth of the roots and the production of lateral roots were somewhat variable between experiments, but the relative differences were maintained and have been expressed as percentage difference relative to fca-1 in each experiment.
Significantly different from wild-type Ler control (P < 0.001).
Significantly different from fca-1 (P < 0.001).
Error bars indicate ±se.
