GVBD kinetics. (A) Microinjection into the cytoplasm, or the GV of medium alone or medium containing mouse γ-globulins, did not affect the GVBD process. (B) Inhibition of cytoplasmic or nuclear PLC-γ1 had no effect on GVBD kinetics, except for the first hour in the case of microinjection into the cytoplasm. (C) Inhibition of cytoplasmic or nuclear PLC-β1 had a negative effect upon GVBD kinetics. The anti-PLC-β1 mAb (0.05 or 0.2 mg/ml) was microinjected into the cytoplasm or the GV at t = 0, 30, 60, or 90 min after follicular release. The oocytes were then observed regularly to verify the occurrence of GVBD. The frequencies ± SE of GVBD are calculated at least on three experiments. □, no microinjection; ░⃞, microinjection into the cytoplasm; ▪, microinjection into the nucleus. ∗, statistically significant difference compared with control at p < 0.05.
