EVOLUTION. For the article “Hitchhiking mapping: A population-based fine-mapping strategy for adaptive mutations in Drosophila melanogaster,” by Bettina Harr, Max Kauer, and Christian Schlötterer, which appeared in number 20, October 1, 2002, of Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (99, 12949–12954; First Published September 26, 2002; 10.1073/pnas.202336899), the lnRV test statistic was incorrect for locus MS3L-11 (last line of Table 2). The conclusion that two regions of significantly reduced variability are located on the X chromosome and the third chromosome remains unchanged. In the right-hand portion of Fig. 1A, the curve shown was also incorrect. The corrected table and figure appear below.
