Butyrate treatment enhances RANTES protein expression in cells expressing ΔF508-CFTR. IB3-1 cells were cotransfected with constructs encoding β-galactosidase and ΔF508-CFTR or a mock control and then treated with sodium butyrate (5 mM) in the presence and absence of TNF-α-IFN-γ (each at 100 ng/ml) for 18 h at 37°C. Following treatment, supernatants were harvested and examined for changes in RANTES protein expression via ELISA.
