Experimental set up. (A) In the inset form of stimulation of the facial nerve for producing the artificial movement of the vibrissa, and the methodology used to obtain the recordings of the electrical activity in the deep vibrissal nerve is shown. The pressure levels were obtained by using a micromanipulator, and bringing the surfaces closer to the vibrissa by 3 mm each time. (B) Block diagram of the acquisition and stimulation system.
