Cytokine production by spleen cells. Spleens were obtained from control DBA/1J (Control) collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice, and THR0921 treated mice at day 42 and single cell suspensions were cultured with medium alone, 50 μg/ml type II collagen, or 5 mg/ml lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 48 h. The levels of INF-γ, IL-1β, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α were measured in supernatants using a specific enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay.
