An exceptional case in VS55, where cracking initiated in the circumferential direction but continued in the radial direction, in a process having the following parameters: Tmin=−130.7°C, H1=5.3 °C/min, H2=0.9 °C/min, H3=15.5 °C/min, H4=30.5 °C/min. The temperature is shown at the top-left corner of each photo. Top-left: radial fractures with one circumferential fracture along the wall; top-right: fracture edges healed at the beginning of rewarming; bottom-left: RPC along fracture lines; bottom-right: crystals at the center of the vial, while the area closer to the wall is already molten.
