Comparison of adult transgenic mouse hearts to a normal adult mouse heart. At 1–1.5 years of age, gross cardiac morphology is normal in normal mouse (A) and in hearts from three independent transgenic human control mouse lines (BD); arrows show normal left ventricular cavity. However, the hearts from four independent transgenic mutant human transgenic mouse lines (EH) show a thin apex (arrowhead) and obliteration of the middle of the left ventricular cavity (arrows).
