The standard samples were prepared by mixing a reaction mixture without mRNA with known amounts of luciferase or GFP before loading onto the gel. For the autoradiogram in C, [¹⁴C]leucine was added at 52 h, and samples were withdrawn after an additional 8 h (60 h total) or 20 h (72 h). Authentic GFP migrates slower than the cell-free product on the native gel, which is attributable to different amino acid compositions because both proteins work as a monomer form. Products and supplemented creatine kinase are marked with arrows and asterisks, respectively.
