Experimental design employed in this study. In each case, the starting material consists of RNA samples collected from calcifying and noncalcifying cultures of E. huxleyi. Samples from experimental replicates 1 and 2 were fluorescently labeled. Reciprocal dye swap experiments were performed and assayed using 10 microarrays indicated by connecting lines in each diagram.
