Values are given relative to the invasion of the parent strain DRH212, which was set at 100%. The experiment was performed in triplicate and repeated on at least three separate occasions. Error bars indicate standard deviations. (B) Colonization of 1-day-old chicks. One-day-old chicks were inoculated with 1 × 104 CFU bacteria. The number of bacteria present in the ceca at 7 days postinfection is reported as the number of CFU per gram cecal content.
