The same quantitative responses in pulmonary pressure and thromboxane were observed when we infused 75 nmol of cardiolipin preincubated with 75 nmol of purified human apolipoprotein H (12). (C) Cardiolipin dose–response. Doses were injected in a randomized order into a 5-kg lamb, and the line was fit by linear regression of a double reciprocal plot. The blue circle was the response in a different lamb to cardiolipin purified from GBS. Cardiolipin liposomes prepared by simple rehydration are multilamellar, but because a liposome size effect has been observed by some investigators (29), we also prepared unilamellar liposomes with diameters ranging from 0.1 to 5.0 microns; all were active.
