Overview of HIV-1 gag and pol expression cassettes. All sequences are based on the HIV-1SF2 isolate (GenBank accession no. K02007) and were optimized for human codon usage. The coding sequence for RT was mutated for all affected constructs to yield a nonfunctional protein.
