Inhibition of envelope-induced activation of caspase-3 by sCD4. Fresh PBMCs were treated with HIV envelopes NL43 or 92MW959 for 5 h in the presence or absence of sCD4, with the addition of the caspase-3 substrate DEVD-Rho in the last hour of incubation. Cells were then analyzed by flow cytometry. The values presented indicate the percent mcf of cells treated with envelope minus the percent mcf of untreated cells, with the response to envelope set at 100%. Cells were gated on the CD3+ population.
