FIGURE 1

Setup of the measuring chamber. The porous material is fixed vertically between two Teflon chambers. A membrane is created by applying a lipid-solvent droplet on the porous substrate. The spontaneous thinning of the lipid-solvent droplet to a lipid bilayer is depicted in the enlarged part of the chamber. The resulting membrane spans the pores.
