The localization of APC/C subunits is not clear; Apoptin may either transport APC/C subunits from the cytoplasm to the nucleus or associate with APC/C subunits already present in the nucleus. Apoptin-mediated recruitment of APC/C into PML nuclear bodies in transformed cells leads to inactivation of APC/C function and subsequent induction of G₂/M arrest and apoptosis.
