Production of IFN-β in HSV-1-infected cells. IFN-β secretion into the culture supernatant from MEFs infected with either mock lysate, WT, or Δ34.5 virus at an MOI of 5 for 3, 6, 9, 12, or 24 h was measured with a mouse IFN-β ELISA. After subtraction of background signal, the pg/ml of IFN-β for each sample was determined from a standard curve. Results as shown are averages from replicate experiments.
