The effect of thermolysin (0.01–1 u ml⁻¹, 20 min) on the recovery of responsiveness to thrombin (0.1 u ml⁻¹) in U46619-contracted rings of pig coronary artery. Endothelium-dependent relaxations to thrombin (0.1 u ml⁻¹) were examined in time control and matched artery preparations treated with thermolysin (0.01–1 u ml⁻¹, 20 min) at the times indicated after thermolysin washout. Data are mean±s.e.mean from five experiments and are expressed as a percentage of the maximum relaxation to isoprenaline (1 μM).
