Influence of cyclosporin A (CsA, 1.0 μM), FK506 (1.0 μM) or NMMA (300 μM) on nitrite accumulation (nmol per well per 48 h) in VSMC using various incubation regimes, as indicated by the bars in the lower panel. VSMC were exposed to LPS (50 μg ml¹⁻) in the presence or absence of the indicated drugs for 24 h. Cells were washed at least three times with fresh culture medium and incubated for a further 48 h in the presence or absence of the drugs.
