Dose-dependent effects of pretreatment with IL-10 (▪) or IL-13 ([Vertical lined box]) on the hyperalgesia induced by UVB exposure at 300 mJ cm². Each bar represents the average±s.e.mean of measurements performed on a different group of mice for each indicated treatment at 6 and 48 h following exposure to UVB or treatment with each cytokine alone. The degree of significance of differences (^*P<0.05; ^**P<0.01 and ^***P<0.001) was calculated with reference to values obtained from animals receiving injections of either cytokines without exposure to UVB. Injections of IL-10 or IL-1β did not elicit significant alteration of nociceptive thresholds when compared to control animals.
