The effect of arachidonic acid (AA) on BzATP-stimulated ethidium accumulation in cells expressing human recombinant P2X₇ receptors. pEC₅₀ values for BzATP were determined in sucrose buffer containing 0.1 mM CaCl₂ in the absence of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and AA (leftmost data points), in the presence of the indicated concentrations of BSA and absence of AA (second from left set of data points) and in the presence of the indicated concentrations of BSA and AA. Note that at each BSA concentration, a control group (absence of BSA and AA) was included and that these are all in the same location. ^*Significantly different to pEC₅₀ value determined in the presence of BSA and absence of AA (oneway ANOVA and Dunnett's test). The data are the mean±s.e.mean of four experiments.
