Kinetic model of inhibition. The 6-state kinetic model is shown in a simplified form to show the states involved in inhibitor binding. The shaded region are the conformations believed to generate the presteady state current. For simplicity, we show that when the inhibitor binds the translocation step is not allowed, however, we acknowledge that failure to release substrate on the inside could be the critical defect in transport.
