Representative autoradiograms for CB₁ cannabinoid receptor binding (upper panels) and mRNA expression (lower panels) obtained from 20 μm-thick sagittal slices of rabbit adrenal glands. CB₁ receptor binding was assessed using autoradiography with [³H]-CP55940; non-specific binding was determined in the presence of excess of non-labelled CP55940. CB₁ receptor mRNA expression was assessed using in situ hybridization with rat CB₁ antisense probes; non-specific labelling was determined in the presence of excess of cold probe. The figures represent five (CB₁ receptor binding) and five (CB₁ mRNA expression) experiments with similar results.
