Effects of indomethacin and celecoxib on rat paw hyperalgesia and oedema. In (a) the hyperalgesia induced by carrageenan was less at each time after pre-treatment with indomethacin (0.5 mg kg−1) but these changes were not significant. Celecoxib (6 mg kg−1) pre-treatment prevented the drop in threshold (hyperalgesia) induced by carrageenan and increased the nociceptive threshold above normal, particularly at 2 and 3 h after carrageenan.
