Transport of L-citrulline (0.1 mM) was measured over 10 min in the absence or presence of a 10-fold excess (1 mM) of various system-selective amino-acid substrates. Data are expressed as a percentage of the influx rate in control cells (100%=0.44±0.05 pmol μg protein⁻¹ min⁻¹). Values denote the means±s.e.m. of experiments in three different cell cultures with five replicates in each experiment.
