Effect of VT1 and VT2 on p38 MAP kinase activity in human monocytes. Human monocytes were treated with VT1 or VT2 (both 3 ng ml⁻¹) for the times indicated (a and b) or with increasing concentrations of either VT1 or VT2 for 30 min (e and f). Whole-cell extracts were blotted for phospho-p38 (a, b, e and f) or total p38 MAP kinase (c) as outlined in the Methods section (n=3). Values obtained in (a and b) were quantified by scanning densitometry and the mean±s.d. of each value is represented in panel (d).
