Inhibition of 5-HT currents by R- and S-citalopram in Xenopus oocytes expressing hSERT. Following a stable response to 10 μM 5-HT, R- or S-citalopram and combinations thereof were constantly applied and the oocyte exposed three times to 5-HT at 6 min intervals. The stable response in the presence of R- and S-citalopram was measured and the percent response, relative to the response to 10 μM 5-HT alone, was calculated. (a) Effect of 0.45 μM R- and 0.15 μM S-citalopram plus the combination. (b) Effect of 5 μM R- and 0.15 μM S-citalopram plus the combination.
