Rats were treated with vehicle (5% glucose, Control), red wine polyphenolic compounds (RWPC; 20 mg kg⁻¹ day⁻¹), RWPC (20 mg kg⁻¹ day⁻¹) + N^G-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME; 2 mg kg⁻¹ day⁻¹) or L-NAME (2 mg kg⁻¹ day⁻¹). Values are presented as the mean±s.e.m. of 11–16 experiments.
