Effect of estrogen on intracellular levels of IL-6. Kupffer cells isolated from male mice were incubated with indicated concentrations of E2 for 5 h. The intracellular IL-6 levels in cells were analyzed using flow cytometry. (A) A representative FACS result of IL-6 in Kupffer cells with (E2) and without E2 (Control) treatment showing the percentages of IL-6–positive (upper right) and IL-6–negative (lower right) in F4/80-positive Kupffer cells (right).
